Aluminum Welding Services

aluminumAluminum is a lightweight and strong material making it an excellent choice for the aerospace and airplane manufacturing industries. Superior Joining Technologies, Inc. builds custom CNC aluminum parts while also offering aluminum welding services for these industries and many more. We have the expertise, experience, and equipment needed to complete detailed projects quickly.

Aluminum is known for its high machinability, good strength-to-weight ratio, and natural corrosion resistance. Aluminum also provides excellent affordability. As pure aluminum is soft and has limited strength, small amounts of copper, magnesium, and zinc are often included in aluminum to increase strength.

Aluminum GTAW Welding Services

Aluminum parts are welded with incredible difficulty and require a level of skill and experience offered at few places. At Superior Joining, we use TIG (tungsten inert gas) welding to provide quality parts for our customers. We have weld procedures that deliver the correct mix of heat input and speed as well as experienced and consistent welders to successfully overcome common aluminum limitations such as porosity.

  • Aluminum 2024
    • Good fatigue resistance and average machinability
    • Not weldable and has poor corrosion resistance
    • Used in aircraft wings, fuselages, and structures under tension
  • Aluminum 6063
    • Good mechanical properties and high weldability
    • To increase strength near welds, must be heat treated
    • Extruded shapes for architecture, window frames, roofs, tubing, and furniture
  • Aluminum 7075
    • Good fatigue strength and average machinability
    • Not weldable and limited corrosion resistance
    • Used in aircraft wings, fuselages, bicycle parts, and rock-climbing equipment
